anyone interested in the Icelandic lyrics of the songs that Björk sang at the Laugardagshöll concert in Dec 2001? I received some of them, and will probably have them all in a few days

- sorry I broke the rule: French only ;-)

- what is brown and flies?

- a turd with wings!

- qu'est ce qui est marron et qui vole?

- de la merde avec des ailes.

ok, here's one of the songs now, so you can all sing along:

Vorið er komið og grundirnar gróa

gilið og lækirnir fossa af brún

syngur í runni og senn kemur lóa

svanur á tjarnir og þröstur í tún.

Nú fer að hýrna um hólma og sker

hreiðrar sig blikinn og æðurin fer.

Hæðirnar brosa og hlíðarnar dala

hóar þá smalinn og rekur á ból.

Lömbin sér una um blómgaða bala

börnin sér leika að skeljum á hól.

if you have the Laugardagshöll recording, you figure out which song it is ;-)

if I get any more transcriptions, I'll post them here

see you in Werchter or Paris, maybe?

sorry people ;-) I found out today that the guy who sent me the lyrics was playing a joke on me: it's not in fact a Björk song, but an Icelandic poem about the arrival of spring ! anyway, he promised to send me the lyrics later on, so when I do get them, I will post them here

to make up for it, here's a transcript of the speech that Björk gave at the Laugardagshöll concert, along with a very rough translation :

"við erum alveg...hérna ég er alveg kexrugluð ég veit allavega ekkert hvort ég á að syngja á íslensku eða ensku...*laughter*...því öll lögin eru til á íslensku...*heehee* svo gerði ég tónleika á íslensku og það eru allir svo fúlir af því þeir gátu ekki sungið með...*laughter*..búin að hlusta á ensku plöturnar

svo gáfu sykurmolarnir út, hérna, eina plötu bæði á íslensku og á ensku, og allir á íslandi keyptu bara ensku plöturnar. *laughter*

það bara, ég er búin að missa þráðinn. Svo voru tónleikarnir á ensku, þannig að núna er ég svona að reyna að gefa 50/50 pakkann... ég svona..blablabla *laughter and applause*

"we are just, i'm just confused, I at least don't know whether I should sing in icelandic or english...*laughter*, because we have all the songs in icelandic..*heehee*, then I recorded a concert in icelandic and everybody went angry because they couldn't sing with me *laughter*, i've listened to the english records...

and then the sugarcubes (sykurmolarnir) made a record both in icelandic and in english, and everyone in iceland just bought the icelandic ones..*laughter*

it's just, I'm can't hold up with it. then the concert were in english, so now i'm just trying to make it 50/50, I like..blablabla *laughter and applause*

I'll just carry on experimenting on this ... thing (literally stage), and hopefully in the end I hope to end up with one of the languages, and my next song is in icelandic."
